Electrician Wages
The job of electricians involve a lot of planning, laying out, installation, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment that provides heat, light, power, and communications. The electricians perform the kind of electrical jobs that are required in the remodelling and building of structures. They essentially assemble, install, and connect thermostats, lighting
and power systems, intercoms, ventilators, and signalling systems. The electricians work with blue prints while installation of cables, electrical wires, and conduit systems. Considering the amount of work an electrician has to put in, they are generally paid on an hourly basis. Sometimes they can be paid on a weekly or monthly basis depending on the nature of work.

Working Conditions of Electricians...
The wages are decided keeping in mind the conditions in which an electrician works. You should know that there is a danger of the electrician being electrocuted or falling if they are working at heights. If they are working in new construction building, then the surroundings can be very noisy. If they are working at an old building, then their work area can often be dirty, cramped, and with poor ventilation. The electrical work in constructions is not determined by any seasonal changes and hence their job can be in any seasons, summer, winter, fall, or spring. The maintenance electricians generally work in completed structures and their area of work varies from clean, air-conditioned surroundings to dirty and noisy factory areas.

The criteria of wages depend on the experience that you have. Electricians with a lot of experience are in a better position to demand higher wages than the ones who have just become electricians. The wages will also depend on the union membership of an electrician. The wages of a non-union electrician and a union electrician also varies. The kind of work you put in and the effort
is also a determining factor of an electrician's wage.
Generally, wages in the urban areas are higher than that in the rural areas and small towns. The benefits also that an electrician get vary considerably. Obviously, as your experience as an electrician increases so do the wages and benefits.
Becoming an Electrician...
To become an electrician one must at least be 18 years of age and must ideally complete an on-the-job-training or an apprenticeship that can easily last for three to four years. During the apprenticeship period you may be paid apprenticeship wages, though it may not be a very great amount. There are many courses online and otherwise also that you can take during the course of becoming an electrician. The distance learning courses are gaining popularity and are becoming widely accepted.
